How do we want to live together in the coming decades? How can we build future-proof homes and buildings? How can cities, villages, and settlements meet the challenges posed by social, technological, and ecological change? These are the questions Andreas Hofer, Director of the International Building Exhibition in the Stuttgart Region (IBA’27) asks himself every day. Drawing on his rich experience in cooperative and new forms of housing, the Swiss architect is responsible for the programmatic management of the IBA’27. In this position, he does his utmost best to make the transformation of Stuttgart, a highly industrialised metropolitan region with a population of 2.8 million, towards a sustainable future visible and tangible.
